Mount Maker – Artisan Engineer

Rare opportunity to join a small team of craftspeople making displays and mounts for museums and art galleries, working directly with historical and important items.

The successful candidate will be trained to assist in the production of bespoke display mounts, from design to installation. Working with acrylic, metal, and wood. Using table saws, milling machine and lathes plus a variety of hand and power tools.

They must be able to work independently as well as alongside team members, maintain workshop cleanliness and follow health and safety procedures. Onsite work and travel (both domestic and international) may be necessary on occasion.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience within a workshop or design environment, an interest in engineering and the arts/history would be helpful. We are looking for applicants that share our passion and drive and are looking to a build a career, with prospects to grow within the company and take on more responsibility.

Key skills – we expect applicants to be able to demonstrate most of the following:

  • Proven experience within a workshop / fabrication environment, or can demonstrate transferable skills
  • Experience with machinery and or tools
  • Experience with metal work, plastic, and or wood.
  • Looking for a long-term employment and progression
  • Full driving license.
  • Happy to travel

Desirable-

  • Past work within a museum/gallery or heritage environment
  • Onsite work within private or public spaces
  • Experience welding and using milling machines
  • ‘White Glove’ working experience with fragile or valuable items
  • Interest in history and art

£22,500 to £27,500 pa subject to experience, (Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 17:00)
